About

Hello!

I'm a PhD researcher and journalist based in Ireland with a passion for video production and climate storytelling. I studied Journalism and New Media, minioring in English Literature at the University of Limerick. I have worked for Newstalk, Live 95 and Iconic Media, creating content that has been awarded Feature Writer of the Year and News UK and Ireland's Newcomer of the Year.

During my time with Live 95, I had the responsibility for the station's contribution to Ours to Protect, an initiative by the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland (IBI) and Coimisiún na Meán to promote climate programming across 23 independent radio stations. I loved working on this project, producing stories on everything from offshore wind to hedgerow conservation.

I was honoured to represent the IBI at Radiodays Europe in Munich, where I spoke about how climate broadcasting can be tailored to a regional audience by using a solutions-based approach.

The environment has always been close to my heart. Wanting to deepen my understanding of climate action and environmental issues, I returned to study for an MSc in Environment, Culture, and Society at Mary Immaculate College. My masters thesis explored the challenges facing the uptake of organic tillage in Ireland.

I am currently pursuing a PhD exploring the dynamic transformation of Ireland’s uninhabited offshore islands. This work brings together my background in journalism, environmental studies, and my deep interest in how we talk about climate and land use.

I write a weekly substack called Field Notes by Aislinn, where I break down environmental issues in a clear, accessible way. From policy explainers to reflections on place and ecology, the series aims to make sustainability feel accessible rather than overwhelming. Field Notes has grown steadily and now has over 90 newsletter subscribers.
